I finally finished editing the bazillions of photos we took while dreading my hair a couple weeks ago! I love the video format; it’s such a simple way of showing people what we do, instead of trying to explain how our techniques differ from most of the starter methods commonly used by salons. I also wanted to show just how much work Becca and ‘Stine really put into my hair. That’s 16 hours jammed into under 3 minutes! With a killer soundtrack too, courtesy of Vancougar. I maintained Cynthia’s ‘locks back in March when we first spoke about adding dread extensions. She had a gorgeous mix of dreads and loose hair/bangs, but wanted to spice it up a bit and some drama to her layered chin-length ‘locks. One month later, we were back in the chair doing just that!
Cynthia got up to 10 inches of new honey blonde length in some spots, but we kept it layered for lightness and style, especially around the top. She sent in this new photo to update us on her progress, and um…she looks really hot. Like really super hot! Such a great photo!
If you’ve got recent photos, we’d love to see them! Send ‘em our way at info@thedreadquarters.com!
Becca took on the challenge of John’s mini-dreads and did an amazing job!
John’s been growing out his “Kid n’ Play” (he called it, not me!) for a while now, but was really keen on getting a head start on his ‘locks. Generally in the shop we’ll make you wait until your hair is 6 inches long, but John’s texture was such that we could begin the dreads a bit early without fear of them straight-up unravelling. His plan was to tend the top ‘locks while his sides grew out to make the transition a little less awkward, but he has options – should John decide to, this’ll look just as awesome if he keeps his fade. With a little bit of palm rolling, these ‘locks will be looking lived-in in no time at all! Click through for the before and afters!
